Continental Airlines

The following baggage policies are shown as they appear on Continental Airlines’ website. Your Vacations To Go travel counselor can answer any additional questions you may have.

Carry-On Baggage

Continental will permit one bag plus one personal item (see below), per customer to be carried on the aircraft.

The maximum combined linear measurement (length + width + height) of carry-on bags must not exceed 14 inches x 9 inches x 22 inches (23 x 35 x 56 cm) or 45 linear inches (114 cm).

Please note: All carry-on items must be stowed under the seat in front of you or in the overhead bin. Items may not be stowed in the seat back pocket. Any item in excess of carry-on baggage size or allowance requirements as listed above will be checked to your final destination and may be subject to applicable checked baggage fees.

In addition to the one carry-on item, you may bring one personal item such as a large shoulder bag, large backpack, laptop bag or an item of similar size.

The following items are not counted toward your one bag and one personal item limit:

Checked Baggage Fees

In general, Continental Airlines will accept up to two pieces of checked baggage with a maximum weight of 50 pounds (23 kg) per bag and a maximum outside dimension of 62 inches (157 cm) per bag in exchange for the applicable service fees set forth below. Outside dimension of a bag is equal to the width + height + depth of the bag added together.

Bag fees apply at any point where bags are checked. For a trip that includes one or more connections, bags will be checked to your final destination, and the fee for checking a bag from your origin to your destination will apply. For a trip that includes a voluntary stopover, your bags will be checked to your stopover point, where you will collect your bags. When you resume travel, you may check your bags again, subject to applicable fees from the new point of check-in to the destination.

Fees apply for certain Economy Class fares between the destinations indicated below based on dates of purchase and travel. Fee amounts are in U.S. dollars (USD).

Note: Baggage fees shown below apply for travel purchased on or after July 15, 2011, for travel on or after August 15, 2011, except where noted. Different fees may apply depending on the date your travel was purchased. Please see below for all other ticketing and travel dates.
